PROTECTING OHIO'S TRAILS

We fight to keep existing OHV trails open, protected, and accessible for riders across the state.

MOTO FIRST

We advocate for Off Highway Motorcycles AKA: dirt bikes. Ensuring riders have safe, legal, and dedicated places to ride.

SINGLE TRACKED...

We work with federal, state and private partners to approve, develop, and maintain purpose built single track trails.

The Ohio Off Highway Motorcycle Association (OOHMA) is a 100% volunteer ran organization created by riders, for riders. Our mission is simple: protect the places we ride, expand access to new terrain, and ensure off-highway motorcycling thrives in Ohio. We advocate for the preservation of existing state and federal OHV areas, support responsible partnerships with landowners, and work directly with government agencies to advance purpose built, moto first single track trails. Driven by passion and grounded in stewardship, OOHMA exists to strengthen Ohio’s off-road community and build a better future for every rider who loves exploring dirt on two wheels.

Your membership is what makes this mission possible. Every rider who joins OOHMA strengthens our voice at the local, state, and federal levels, helping us protect existing riding areas, open new ones, and keep two wheel access alive in Ohio. Membership funding goes directly toward trail advocacy, land-use initiatives, on the ground maintenance, and the ongoing fight for more moto first single track. When you become a member, you’re not just supporting an organization, you’re investing in the future of off-highway motorcycle access for yourself, your fellow riders, and the next generation of riders in the state of Ohio.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...

WHAT IS OOHMA?

OOHMA, the Ohio Off Highway Motorcycle Association, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, expanding, and improving off-highway motorcycle (OHM) access across Ohio. We focus on preserving existing riding areas, developing new moto-first single-track, and supporting responsible land use.

WHY DOES OHIO NEED AN ORGANIZATION LIKE OOHMA?

Ohio has limited legal riding opportunities for dirt bikes and OHM users. Without organized advocacy, existing trails are vulnerable to closure and new trails rarely get approved. OOHMA gives riders a unified voice at the state and federal levels and ensures our community is represented where decisions are made.

HOW DOES MY MEMBERSHIP HELP?

Membership directly funds trail advocacy, landowner partnerships, environmental planning, legal access efforts, and on-the-ground trail maintenance. It also strengthens our influence when working with government agencies to secure more dirt bike only single track.

IS OOHMA ONLY FOR DIRT BIKE / MOTORCYCLE RIDERS?

Yes, our mission is specifically focused on off-highway motorcycles and two wheel recreation. While OHVs like ATVs and UTVs are important to Ohio, OOHMA exists to protect spaces built for riders on two wheels.

DOES OOHMA BUILD TRAILS?

OOHMA works with state and federal land managers, trail crews, volunteers, and landowners to help plan, design, and maintain sustainable single track. We don’t own the land ourselves, but we partner closely with those who do to get trails approved and constructed.

CAN PRIVATE LANDOWNERS WORK WITH OOHMA?

Absolutely. We help landowners explore the possibility of opening their property for public riding and provide guidance on access, safety, liability, sustainability, and best practices.

WHERE DOES OOHMA OPERATE?

We operate statewide across Ohio wherever dirt bike access exists or is being proposed. Our advocacy covers both state managed and federally managed public lands.

IS OOHMA AFFILIATED WITH THE GOVERNMENT?

No. OOHMA is an independent nonprofit. However, we work collaboratively with agencies like the U.S. Forest Service, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and local governments to expand and protect riding opportunities.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED BEYOND MEMBERSHIP?

In support of the trials, you can volunteer for trail maintenance days, attend public meetings, support landowner partnerships, help spread awareness, and assist with events and fundraising. Every rider has something to contribute.

If you have skills or resources you feel will help drive OOHMA's mission, please reach out via the contact form below and we'll be in touch.

IS MY MEMBERSHIP TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes. OOHMA is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your membership dues may be tax-deductible. Always consult a tax professional to confirm your specific situation.
